A day after Japan auto major, Nissan's CEO, Carlos Ghosn said the company would not be a partner in Bajaj Auto’s quadricycle project, managing director, Rajiv Bajaj has said that the company does not feel the need to look for a new partner.
Nissan-Renault and Bajaj had in November 2009 partnered together to roll out a small passenger car in 2012. According to the agreement, Bajaj Auto was to handle design, sourcing and manufacturing of the car while marketing was to be looked after by the Renault-Nissan alliance.
On questions of whether the entire quadricycle joint venture (JV) has now fizzled out, Bajaj said that Renault is yet to communicate anything on the continuance of contract.
Bajaj, speaking to CNBC-TV18 said that he expects the Law Minister to clear the quardricycle norms by this week followed by the draft notification, the next week.
