The Supreme Court has imposed a Rs 10-lakh fine on a land owner for repeatedly approaching courts to scuttle acquisition of land by Karnataka government for the Rs 2,500 crore Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project, reports The Financial Express.

"A bench of justices said in a judgement that repeated attempts by the petitioner M Nagabhushana, who claims to be the owner of a part of the land located at Thotadaguddadahalli village, was an attempt to abuse the process of law," the report explains.

Further the paper reports that though the project was accorded green signal by the apex court in 2006, it is yet to be completed owing to a series of litigation by aggrieved land losers and PILs by certain persons alleging that the promoter had been given tracts of over 5,000 acre of excess land by the government, which is strongly denied by the latter.
