The Supreme Court (SC) will hear Ravi Ruia, vice chairman of Essar Group's petition challenging the summons sent to him by the special court hearing the second-generation (2G) spectrum allocation case on April 15. According to CNBC-TV18 reports, the SC has sought Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reply on Ruia's plea in extra spectrum case.

Moreover, SC has asked the 2G court to defer extra spectrum case hearing to Tuesday.

Ruia had filed the petition a day after the Supreme Court took cognizance of Bharti Group chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal’s plea to quash a similar summons to him by the special court.

SC has also postponed trail court Ruia summons hearing to April 16.

Ruia, Mittal and Asim Ghosh, ex-CEO of Hutchison Essar (now Vodafone India), and now president and chief executive of Canada-based Husky Energy Inc, have been summoned by the special court despite them not featuring in the CBI's chargesheet on the additional spectrum issue.

They were asked to appear before the Patiala House court on 11 April.
