The AI hub that US lender Citizens Financial Group is setting up with Infosys in Bengaluru will design, build, and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and agentic AI solutions, according to the companies’ senior executives.
The hub will work closely with Citizens’ Enterprise Technology and Security (ETS) organisation and global delivery teams to support enterprise technology priorities across platforms, products and services.
Michael Ruttledge, Chief Information Officer and Head of Enterprise Technology & Security at Citizens Financial Group, said the Bengaluru centre will play a direct role in developing AI capabilities rather than just supporting teams in the United States.
“The Bengaluru AI Hub is expected to design, build, and deploy AI and agentic solutions, collaborating with our global ETS delivery teams,” Ruttledge told Moneycontrol.
The centre will support the full lifecycle of technology delivery including solution design, build, testing and deployment.
This will take place within enterprise guardrails such as architecture standards, risk management, compliance and data privacy, while also covering ongoing operations.
Dennis Gada, EVP and Global Head of Banking and Financial Services at Infosys, said the partnership reflects the growing role of AI in reshaping banking technology platforms and delivery models.
“This engagement with Citizens complements the existing partnership focused on AI transformation, which has helped the bank advance innovation and enhance customer service,” Gada told Moneycontrol.
Infosys will leverage its Topaz platform to support the development of agent-ready capabilities that integrate infrastructure, data, models, applications, and workflows.
Gada added that the collaboration is part of a broader push by global banks to scale AI capabilities and digital product engineering through India-based technology centres.
Citizens chose Bengaluru for the hub due to the depth of AI, data, and advanced engineering talent available in the market, particularly across machine learning, data engineering, cloud-native platforms, and agentic frameworks.
Ruttledge further added the AI hub is designed to operate as part of a global delivery model rather than a location-exclusive centre. “AI delivery will be global by design, with Bengaluru serving as a key location while our broader global team, including Hyderabad and U.S.-based teams, will collectively deliver AI and agentic solutions,” he said.
The partnership builds on Citizens’ broader technology strategy and follows the bank’s earlier move to set up a hub in Hyderabad with Cognizant in 2025 as part of its push to accelerate digital transformation and advanced technology adoption.
