The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is committed to research and development of indigenous solutions and reducing dependency on foreign technologies. It has consistently spearheaded next-generation telecom technologies, the Economic Survey has said.
The C-DOT has been instrumental in developing indigenous 4G and 5G core solutions, reducing reliance on global vendors and helping reduce telecom imports.
Its innovations support deploying secure, scalable networks tailored to India’s needs, the survey said.
“C-DOT’s journey can exemplify India’s transition from a telecom consumer to a technology innovator, propelling the nation towards a future of digital sovereignty and inclusive connectivity,” the survey said.
Recognising the increasing significance of cybersecurity in an interconnected world, C-DOT has also ventured into quantum communication systems.
With the launch of advanced quantum encryption solutions, the organisation ensures secure communication channels for government and strategic sectors, safeguarding sensitive information from potential threats, the survey said.
In addition to telecommunications, C-DOT has made strides in disaster management technology.
As the telecom landscape evolves, so, too, do the challenges posed by cyber threats. C-DOT has created indigenous cybersecurity tools to monitor and protect critical infrastructure. These tools are essential for mitigating risks associated with cyber warfare, thereby ensuring national security.
The SAMVAD app has been developed to provide secure communication options, enabling strategic organisations to share text, images, audio, and video files safely.
The C-DoT has also been working towards uplifting the domestic telecom ecosystem through its CCRP (C-DOT Collaborative Research Program). This initiative fosters indigenous telecom innovation by collaborating with industry players offering funding and expertise to help companies develop advanced technologies.
C-DOT supports startups nurtured under the CCRP framework, with government initiatives like the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) and the Avishkar program aimed at transforming innovative ideas into successful startups.
