With an aim to maximise its share in the domestic luxury two-wheeler and four-wheeler market, BMW India has launched four offerings-the CE 04, the new Mini Cooper S, the Mini Countryman EV, and the all-new 5 Series.
The 5 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) sedan will be available in a single 530Li variant at Rs 72.90 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The eighth generation of the 5 Series will be imported into the country via the CBU route and will be taking on the upcoming Mercedes-Benz E Class LWB.
It is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, along with a 48V mild-hybrid system and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The sedan claims to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 6.5 seconds.
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, “India is the first right-hand drive market in the world to introduce the all-new 5 in its long wheelbase avatar. It is tailor-made to suit the requirements of our premium clientele in India, and offers exceptional comfort and versatility for any occasion, business or personal, urban or long-distance travel.”
BMW has also introduced the new Mini Cooper S and Countryman Electric - priced at Rs 44.90 lakh and Rs 54.90 lakh, respectively. It may be recalled that MINI had started accepting pre-bookings for the new-generation Countryman E electric SUV. The new Mini Countryman shares its underpinnings with the BMW iX1, which is already on sale in India.
“MINI has always rewritten and reinvented itself for the modern day, time and time again without neglecting its own origins and traditions. MINI’s constant development and its ability to regularly set new trends have established a strong fanbase in India,” stated Pawah.
The German automaker's two-wheeler brand -BMW Motorrad has also unveiled its luxury electric scooter, the CE 04, in India, marking its entry into the premium electric scooter market. The CE 04 is available at a price of Rs 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be sold as a fully built unit. The luxury e-scooter is equipped with an 8.5 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of up to 130 kilometres on a full charge.
“The all-new BMW CE 04 is the beginning of a whole new era of electro-mobility at BMW Motorrad India. It is the new electric star, made for the city,” said Pawah.
