BMW India today launched second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in the country at a starting price of Rs 46.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be locally produced at BMW Group plant in Chennai.
The entry-level BMW sedan is available in two petrol-only variants - BMW 218 M Sport and BMW 218 M Sport Pro. The following are their ex-showroom prices.

The 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe develops 156 hp of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
The car accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 230 kmph. The left-hand gearshift paddle can also be used to activate the Sport Boost function for quick acceleration.
In terms of dimensions, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is 20 mm longer at 4,546 mm and 25 mm taller at 1,445 mm. It is 1,800 wide with the wheelbase measuring 2,670 mm.
The exterior is characterised by a new glowing kidney grille, which is flanked by adaptive LED headlights. The rear has LED taillights and high-gloss black finished apron. The car drives on 18-inch alloy wheels.
The standard M Sport package offers bells and whistles like a front apron with large air intakes, M specific side sills, the M high-gloss Shadow Line and a rear apron with a black diffuser insert. In addition, the 18-inch M light alloy wheels with a Y spoke design and tubeless tyres are available as standard in conjunction with the M Sport package.
The cabin of the 2 Series Gran Coupe has been redesigned for a more premium appeal. The wide BMW curved display and the latest version of BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 9 are designed for operation via touch display and natural language.
The leather-free interior has Sport seats with adjustable under thigh support, electric adjustment, memory function for the driver and raised side bolsters. The standard seats are upholstered in Veganza Perforated leather in Mocha or Oyster colour combinations. The latest version of the M Leather steering wheel features illuminated multifunction buttons, three-spoke design and shift paddles in black with Sport Boost function. The car has a 205-watt Harman Kardon hi-fi system with 12 speakers. Also available are features like a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof.
With BMW Driving Assistant, you get the blind spot detection feature and lane change, front collision and rear collision warnings. Parking is made easier with Parking Assistant Plus feature and a surround view camera. The Reversing Assistant feature comes into play while you are reversing out of a tight parking spot or through narrow driveways by keeping a record of the last 50 metres driven and assisting by taking over the steering.
The car has four exterior colour options -- Brooklyn Grey Metallic, M Portimao Blue Metallic, Alpine White and Black Sapphire.
