Gota, typically a gold or silver ribbon, has long been used to create unique patterns on fabrics and accessories. It’s used not just to bring life to any outfit but also to decorate items, ranging from headpieces and cushion covers to footwear. This year, its multi-purpose usage was embraced by fashion stylists, making it one of the most loved hair accessories. Similarly, Punjabi parandis, done with colourful silk threads, made a grand comeback. Celebrities flaunted these perfectly stylish yet comfortable adornments as they stepped out to attend festive functions.

Just as much as Khushi Kapoor’s multi-coloured traditional saree deserves praise, it is her braided look with gota that grabs attention, too. For her friend Aaliyah Kashyap’s mehendi, Khushi went all festive with her hairstyle and looked more radiant than ever.

Mouni Roy made for a pretty picture as she posed in a white lehenga with a gold border and matching blouse. She elevated the look with her golden braid, finished with a parandi at the end. It added a royal touch to her look.

Mahira Khan is a vision to behold in this silver gota braid that doubled as a parandi. It’s not just the actress’ outfit that is worth swooning over but also her decked up hair with gajra. It added a layer of glam to her clothes, making her look charming.

Sara Tendulkar opted to tie her ponytail with golden threads, making her stand out at a wedding function. While gota was used minimally, it brought a sparkle to her outfit.

Deepika Padukone is sophistication personified in a sleek brown braid worn with a heavily embellished lehenga. Despite the understated colour, the braid elevated her look.

Gotas and parandis are not just glamorous hair accessories – they are also practical and versatile. In 2024, celebs showcased how these traditional ornaments could be worn in myriad ways. These accessories prove that tradition and modernity can go together, besides offering inspiration to experiment with festive fashion.
