'Reminded me of Sridevi’s love for gold', says Manish Malhotra on Janhvi Kapoor’s golden half saree

Janhvi Kapoor, who has been on a fashion high this year, is once again making headlines during the promotions of her upcoming film Param Sundari, stunning in exceptionally unique sarees. Her latest outing in a golden half-saree was no exception.

Designed by Manish Malhotra, Janhvi looked nothing short of a ‘sundari’ in the all-gold ensemble, featuring a jewelled dori blouse and a handwoven tissue dupatta draped over her skirt to create a half-saree effect.

Sharing the pictures, the designer wrote, “Elegantly Beautiful @janhvikapoor mesmerises in our custom-made gold handwoven tissue lehenga and a hand-embroidered jewelled classic dori blouse, with a handwoven tissue dupatta draped as a half-saree. Her look is inspired by Pattu Pavadai — traditionally rooted, classic and beautiful.”

Manish added that the look brought back fond memories of his favourite star, Sridevi — Janhvi’s mother — and her love for gold. He recalled making both a saree and a lehenga in gold for her film Judaai.

“This look of Janhvi reminds me so much of Ma’am (I called Sridevi Ji Ma’am… She is the only actor I have ever called Ma’am, and I still do with love, admiration and respect). The entire gold ensemble was also her favourite look, which she wore often. I fondly remember making a saree for the film Judaai and also a lehenga in all gold,” he said.

He added, “From reel to real, gold remains a personal favourite — from our #Evara collection 2024 to our new #Inaya 2025. Gold is a constant in our design story.”

Janhvi also turned heads in another Manish Malhotra creation — a floral art georgette saree with sparkling embellishments.

Her promotional looks are designed to reflect her South Indian character in the film. Param Sundari stars Janhvi Kapoor alongside the newest dad in town, Sidharth Malhotra. Originally slated for release on July 25, the film will now hit theatres on August 29.
