Apple cider vinegar (ACV), a staple in many kitchens, is not just for culinary delights. This versatile elixir has garnered attention in the beauty world for its potential to enhance hair and skin health. Rich in acetic acid, vitamins, and minerals, ACV can be a game-changer in your beauty routine. Here are different ways you can use apple cider vinegar to achieve lustrous hair and glowing skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar for HairNatural hair rinse

One of the most popular uses of apple cider vinegar for hair is as a natural rinse. ACV helps balance the scalp's pH level, which can reduce dandruff and itchiness. It also removes product build-up, leaving your hair looking shiny and refreshed.

How to use: Mix two tablespoons of ACV with one cup of water. After shampooing and conditioning, pour the mixture over your hair, ensuring it covers the scalp. Leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing with cool water.

Detangling spray

Tired of tangled hair? ACV can help with that too. Its acidity helps to smoothen the hair cuticle, making it easier to detangle and style.

How to use: Combine one part ACV with three parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on damp hair and comb through gently. Style as usual.

Scalp treatment

A healthy scalp is essential for lustrous hair. ACV's antifungal and antibacterial properties can help treat scalp conditions like dandruff and irritation.

How to use: Mix equal parts ACV and water. Apply the mixture directly to your scalp and massage it in. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

Hair growth booster

ACV can stimulate hair growth by improving blood circulation to the hair follicles and unclogging pores.

How to use: Add a few drops of essential oils like rosemary or lavender to your ACV rinse. Massage the mixture into your scalp to enhance blood flow. Use this treatment once a week for best results.

Apple cider vinegar for skinFacial Toner

ACV makes an excellent natural toner. It helps restore the skin's natural pH balance, tightens pores, and can reduce the appearance of fine lines.

How to use: Dilute ACV with water in a 1:2 ratio. Apply the mixture to a cotton pad and gently swipe over your face after cleansing. Follow up with your regular moisturiser.

Acne treatment

The antibacterial properties of ACV can help prevent and treat acne by keeping the skin clean and reducing inflammation.

How to use: Mix one part ACV with three parts water. Dab a cotton ball into the solution and apply it directly to blemishes. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water.

Exfoliating mask

Exfoliation is key to glowing skin, and ACV can act as a gentle exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and revealing a brighter complexion.

How to use: Mix one tablespoon of ACV with one tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture to your face, avoiding the eye area. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

Sunburn relief

ACV can provide relief from sunburn by soothing the skin and reducing redness and irritation.

How to use: Add one cup of ACV to a cool bath and soak for 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, mix ACV with water in a 1:1 ratio and apply it to the affected areas with a soft cloth.

Foot soak

For those tired and aching feet, ACV can be a great remedy. It helps to soften the skin, reduce odour, and combat fungal infections.

How to use: Fill a basin with warm water and add one cup of ACV. Soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Pat dry and moisturise for smooth, soft feet.
