Are you striking the perfect balance between comfort and classy when choosing your clothing? Fashion and style is about feeling good and looking great, which means the right outfit should offer ease of movement while still making a statement.

"Fashion in the modern times is about blending comfort with class while wearing relaxed silhouettes, and layering them with purpose in the colder months. Fashion is not difficult to carry when you match statement with the right mix of textures, layers, and accessories. You can be chic and trendy wherever you go, whether it’s for coffee, a casual brunch, or an evening gathering,” says Harshad Panchal, Lead Designer at XYXX.

Follow the monotone trend: Monochrome dressing continues to dominate fashion. “A matching hoodie and joggers in neutral shades like oatmeal, slate grey, or deep navy flaunts effortless style,” says Panchal. To add depth to the look, introduce texture, try a knit beanie or suede sneakers. A crossbody bag in a contrasting shade like olive green or burgundy brings a stylish yet practical element, ideal for coffee runs or a relaxed evening out.

Casual yet classy: For those who like a mix of comfort and refinement, sweatpants in winter hues like forest green or charcoal work well when paired with a relaxed, untucked button-down shirt in muted prints like checks or subtle stripes. “The key to amping up casual wear lies in the accessories. A leather-strap watch or a simple chain bracelet adds polish, while minimalist sneakers in white or tan complete the look, making it perfect for brunch or weekend shopping,” Panchal advises.

Layered magic: Layering remains a winter essential, but the trick is to do it without bulk. “A work-leisure shacket in earthy tones like camel or rust is a great layering piece. Pair it with slim-fit chinos or tailored trousers in shades like cream or deep brown for a refined aesthetic. A classic belt, leather loafers, and a neutral scarf pull the look together, making it effortlessly chic for day-to-evening transitions,” suggests Panchal.

Athleisure appeal: Athleisure is no longer just about gym wear; it’s about functional style. “Joggers styled with a fitted Henley shirt in jewel tones like deep burgundy or cobalt blue create a structured yet comfortable look,” says Panchal. A lightweight gilet or zip-up jacket in black or grey enhances the silhouette while keeping you warm. “Complete the outfit with high-top sneakers and a weather-resistant backpack, ideal for a winter day on the move,” he adds.

Effortless layering: Layering is key to both style and warmth. Start with a lightweight turtleneck in black or off-white and layer it with a puffer jacket in bold tones like mustard or cobalt for a pop of colour. “Winter layering isn’t just about piling on clothes; it’s about strategic pairings that add visual interest while keeping you comfortable,” Panchal explains. Pair this with structured trousers or joggers and finish with chunky boots. A knitted scarf and leather gloves complete this bold yet cosy winter ensemble.

Refined comfort: For a touch of luxe, a turtleneck sweater pairs well with sweatpants or chinos, layered with a faux-fur-lined jacket or coat. “Neutral and monochromatic tones like black, grey, and beige give a modern, sophisticated feel. Chunky sneakers or combat boots add an edgy contrast, while tinted sunglasses or a crossbody sling bag complete the look,” says Panchal.

Textures and accessories: When in doubt, stick to a tonal palette and introduce subtle pops of colour through accessories, suggests Panchal. “Layering different textures, like pairing fleece with cotton or wool, can instantly brighten up a casual outfit.” Accessories like watches, scarves, or even patterned winter socks can inject personality without overpowering the look. Panchal also emphasises functionality: “Winters involve carrying extra essentials, so opting for clothes with functional pockets is useful.”
