Diwali jewellery trends 2025: Vibrant coloured stones and elegant calm tones

This festive season, the jewellery box is getting a delightful makeover. Gone are the days when all that glittered had to be gold—or a diamond. A subtle yet striking shift is underway, and it’s one that speaks not just to the eye, but straight to the heart. If you are buying jewellery for the festival season.

Purchasing jewellery on Dhanteras and Diwali is an age-old tradition. Once bought as a thing one could flaunt, today’s modern woman, and also man, is no longer looking for ornaments that merely dazzle onlookers. Instead, they’re reaching for pieces that feel personal, emotional, even a little poetic.

Think delicate hues of pink sapphire, the serene shimmer of aquamarine, or the soft fire of opal. Each gemstone, a whisper of memory. Each colour, a reflection of mood.

Jewellery today is more intimate than it’s ever been, says Aditi Daga, co-founder and style lead, Angara. “ People are not just looking to buy sparkle—they’re choosing stones that tell a story.” And that’s not just talk. Aditi told Moneycontrol that 31% of their recent sales are from coloured gemstones—a sure sign that Indians are embracing pieces that go beyond tradition and dive into meaning.

Of course, we’ve always loved our jewellery in India. Gold bangles handed down from grandmothers, diamond chokers that saw wedding halls and dinner soirees — but now, the trend leans gentler, more you. Whether it’s your birthstone or a gem that simply feels right, today’s jewelleryis about emotion, not just occasion.

So, how should one shop this festive season? Daga shares a few timeless tips, straight from the source:

Play the colour card

Don’t just follow the latest trend or what the catalogue says is “in.” Choose coloursthat mean something. Maybe aquamarine reminds you of a peaceful vacation by the sea. Maybe garnet stirs memories of a first love. Let your jewellery speak your language.

Think beyond the festival

It’s tempting to buy something grand for Diwali or Bhai Dooj—but ask yourself, will you wear it again? A pendant that works with a silk saree and your weekend denims? Now that’s what we call smart sparkle.

Ask, learn, know

You wouldn’t buy a car without knowing what’s under the hood—so why skip the details on your gemstones? Ask your jeweller about where the stone came from, whether it’s been treated, and how to care for it. Knowledge adds charm. Plus, when you know your jewels well, you wear them with more confidence.

Simple is stunning

This year, subtle is stylish. Instead of going for the biggest bauble in the room, try a delicate gold chain with a single stone. Or a slim ring that catches just enough light. Remember, elegance whispers, it never shouts.

Wearing jewellery is one thing, letting it speak of your personality is another. Let your choice of jewellery reveal not just your taste in the piece but also who you are, what you love, and the life you’ve lived. Because true beauty, as we know, never goes out of style.
