When it comes to making sartorial choices, one of the notions about rich and influential people is that they don't really repeat their outfits often. However, when they do, they not only make a fashion statement, but they also inspire others to adopt the same practice. The recent celebrity to do so was Akshata Murthy, who is a fashion designer herself among the many other hats that she dons. She is the wife of former British PM Rishi Sunak and the daughter of Sudha Murthy and N. R. Narayana Murthy.

At a Diwali do, Akshata came hand in hand with her husband Sunak. The two radiated beautiful smiles. It was Akshata's attire that really caught the attention of many. She wore an Indian dress and threw a blazer over it. You will be surprised to know that she actually repeated the outfit from her wedding days. Yes! The same dress she had worn in one of her wedding festivities. It's designer Rohit Bal's ensemble and it has great detailing over it. The beautiful peacocks, the intricate work and the hue of so many different and bright colours makes it one of those outfits that one can get a wear out of easily even years down the lane.

Akshata also posted a caption to go with the pictures and it read, "We all celebrate Deepavali, or Diwali, in so many different ways, yet the essence remains the same . . . triumph of good over evil . . . a message that stands the test of time.

What also stands the test of time is this beautiful outfit created by the late Rohit Bal (@rohitbalofficial) whose mastery over Indian embroidery was unique. He made it for my wedding in 2009 and I keep coming back to it, this time to celebrate Diwali in London.

Sunak wore a tuxedo and a white shirt beneath it, looking like a dapper, like always! With her hair parted from the middle and accessories kept to minimal, it was Akshata's outfit that elevated her entire look. Akshata style the outfit a tad differently. She got a matching bustier top to go well with the lehenga and well, it looked like a wow. The orange-yellow outfit is just what one would like to wear at a Diwali celebration.
