The Intelligence Bureau (IB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has begun the application process for the recruitment of Assistant Central Intelligence Officers (ACIO) Grade 2 Executive posts. This year, the department has announced 3,717 vacancies, making it one of the largest recruitments for the post in recent years. The application window is now open on the official website www.mha.gov.in.

Candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in any discipline are eligible to apply. The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 10 August 2025. While basic knowledge of computer operations is considered desirable, it is not mandatory for applying.

Selection Process

The selection process will take place in three stages, a Tier 1 objective-type written examination, a Tier 2 descriptive paper, and a Tier 3 interview. The Tier 1 paper will carry 100 marks and include questions from general awareness, quantitative aptitude, reasoning, English, and general studies. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The Tier 2 paper will consist of an essay and English comprehension worth 50 marks. The interview round in Tier III will carry 100 marks and assess the candidate’s personality and suitability for intelligence work.

Candidates who clear all three stages will be appointed to Level 7 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), with a pay scale of Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400 per month. Additional allowances such as HRA, DA, TA, and Special Security Allowance will also be provided.
