Cardiologist Dmitry Yaranov took to his Instagram account to share a post explaining how heart attack symptoms in women differ from men. While outlining classic symptoms that may not look like a cause for worry, he urged women to listen to their bodies and seek urgent medical intervention.

At the start of the video, he added an account of a woman who suffered from a heart attackand shared some of the warning signs that she didn’t take seriously. “For me, one of the major symptoms that stood out was extreme fatigue. I experienced right shoulder pain, stomach pain, back pain, and headaches. It wasn't until the day of my actual heart attack where I started experiencing jaw pain and tingling in my left arm.”

Taking this forward, the cardiologist explained how heart attack symptoms in women are easy to brush aside and assumed to be related to stress or something minor. However, the case can be different.

Stating the classic symptoms, he said, “Forget what you know about classic symptoms like chest pain. Heart attacks in women show very different symptoms. Women can experience extreme fatigue, almost like they ran a marathon out of nowhere. They may feel short of breath even without doing anything strenuous.”

“Notice pain in areas you might not expect, like back, jaw, shoulder, neck, or even stomach. Some may feel lightheaded or nauseated. These symptoms can be subtle, which can make them easy to miss. Many women brush them off, thinking it's just stress or something minor, but ignoring these symptoms can be dangerous. If you or a loved one has symptoms like this, it's always better to be safe and seek help,” he concluded.

Dr Dmitry Yaranov stressed on the importance of looking into any persistent warning signs and not waiting until an emergency. He added, “Early recognition is key, and advocating for better heart health awareness for women can save lives.”
