Director Anurag Kashyap, known for making films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday, and Dev D, opened up about his health issues in a chat with Pema Wellness Resort, where he went for a transformative retreat. He talked about shedding several kilos with the help of a liquid diet and yoga, which helped him cope.
Heart and Asthma Issues
The filmmaker said, “I had a heart attack, and I had a series of asthma attacks. I was on steroids, and I had totally lost myself. I imploded. I tried a lot of things. I went to a de-addiction programme, but it didn't help me. I went to some other places, but it didn't help me... I never understood what had happened to me.”

Unexplained Health Changes
Talking more about his health woes, Kashyap said he never fully understood what went wrong with him despite exercising regularly and being fit. He noticed a shift in his body that he couldn’t explain, including putting on weight and losing and greying hair.
At the retreat, the filmmaker shared that he learnt ways in which stress was affecting him, which led him to find ways to stay away from it and focus on himself. The game-changer was his liquid diet, which he thought he wouldn’t survive but managed to.
