Alia Bhatt’s trainer Karan Sawhney often shares videos on Instagram encouraging followers to adopt a healthy lifestyle for long-term benefits. His recent reel was no different, as he raised an alarm for those with desk jobs, calling ‘sitting’ the ‘new smoking.’

Importance of Movement for People With Sedentary Lifestyle

In the video, Karan urged people with sedentary lifestyles to incorporate quick movements whenever they can and to take care of their body and mind by consuming a healthy diet and staying hydrated.

He said, “This is for someone whose job requires sitting for long hours. Sitting is the new smoking. Make sure to get in some movement. Treat this as a reminder to lift weights, eat clean, prioritise sleep, and drink lots of water throughout the day.”

“Wherever you are near, if you see a bar, hang, as there is nothing better than hanging. Hang for as long as you can. If you see a wall, maybe get in some calf raises. It’s about getting little movement every single day,” he added.

He also listed some of the harmful effects of sitting for long hours which include back pain, poor posture, decreased circulation, and cardiovascular issues. He suggested to “stand up, move around and prioritise healthy and longevity.”

Practice Gratitude

In another reel, the fitness coach emphasised the importance of gratitude as one of the healthy habits. “One of the most underrated skills is to stay in the state of gratitude, no matter what is going on in your life. Whether you are happy, angry, getting frustrated, sad, or anxious whatever that may be, make sure to practice gratitude and go after whatever you want with the same intensity and passion,” he shared.

In June, Karan shared a video where he praised Alia for her commitment to staying fit while doing an intense workout. The post was captioned, “@aliaabhatt Trusting The Process And Giving 100 Percent No Matter What.”

Alia’s workout focuses on strength training and building a stronger core. She performs single-leg squats, extended arm planks, sissy squats, push-ups, and pull-ups. Each of these exercises targets different parts of the body, improving strength and stability while also burning calories.
