Kareena Kapoor’s nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, is not one to encourage internet trends, especially diets that focus on specifics like protein, calories, inflammation, and more. In fact, she took to her Instagram account to share what a truly well-designed diet should look like.
In her new post, the nutritionist explained seven signs of a diet that is effective and sustainable. If you feel you tick most of them, you’re on the right track. If not, then it’s time to rethink your choices.
If you’re constantly tracking your calories or proteins rather than focusing on a wholesome meal, it’s a warning sign. “A good diet design has you in the centre, not macros or calories or protein,” she wrote.

A well-designed diet accommodates the fact that you are human. It should add to health and happiness and not cause a dent in it. For Rujuta, no diet should take an extremist approach and instead of eliminating sugar or carbs, you should regulate them.
Social media has diets for everything, from inflammation and anti-ageing to gut cleanse. If you are on a sustainable diet, these words shouldn’t impress you. “You want to eat well, live well and treat yourself with dignity,” Rujuta added.
Foods that feel familiar are the ones you focus on. She said, “You pick foods that resonate with you. With names and tastes that are familiar. You are no longer bored of routine, you thrive on it.”

Those on a good diet would relish the food on their plate with loved ones and not feel stressed about burning it. “You also eat with friends and family without guilt or anxiety or a plan to burn it all tomorrow on the treadmill,” the nutritionist pointed out.
If you are on a well-designed diet, you realise that fitness is built on a sustainable diet and not fancy foreign foods. According to Rujuta, “A good diet design uses seasons, locations, and occasions to its advantage and doesn’t tie you down to a quinoa, grilled chicken, avocado toast, and berry smoothie.”
She noted, “You realise that fitness is a means to amplify the happy moments and temper the sad ones. That the full plate is a blessing and not the curse it’s made out to be.”
These are signs you should watch closely, as Rujuta said that if you lose weight and then regain it, it’s the result of a poorly designed diet. It won’t last or bring you the joy you deserve.
