Legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg tragically passed away at 52 after a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Just two days earlier, he had shared an Instagram video inviting fans to watch him perform at the North East India Festival in Suntec City.

Legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg died at the age of 52 after a terrible scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday. In his final Instagram post, which was posted just two days before his untimely death, the singer had invited his fans to see him perform live while he was in the country for the North East India Festival.

Zubeen Garg shared a video on his Instagram inviting Singaporean fans to the 4th North East India Festival.

He said, “Hi, my friends from Singapore, I am coming to Singapore tomorrow, and we are organising an event called Northeast Festival there. I am Zubeen Garg from Bollywood and Assam, Northeast. And I’ll be coming to join you, and I invite all of you to join us for this cultural event.”


Zubeen added, “It’s a traditional event from the Northeast. We organise it in different places, and this time we are doing it in Suntec City, Singapore. All are invited; see you there. I’ll be performing and talking to you, and be there with you. Thank you and love you, Singapore.”

Zubeen Garg revealed in the caption that he will be performing his popular Hindi, Bengali and Assamese songs on the evening of September 20. He also suggested that he would be present throughout the festival as its cultural brand ambassador.

The caption reads, “Friends in Singpore, I will like to invite you to 4th North East India Festival in Sunctec, Singapore during 20th and 21st September. Come and explore the exotic part of India, we are carrying quality agri, craft products, tea experience, dance forms, fashion shows and evening musical show presenting Rock bands, rappers from India's North East.”

Zubeen added, “I will be there throughout the Festival as Cultural Brand Ambassador and will perform on 20th evening with my popular Hindi, Bengali and Assamese Songs. I would like to invite you all, it will be Saturday and Sunday and entry is free. All come and support us. Cheers!”

Zubeen Garg, who first gained popularity in Assam in the 1990s, became well-known across the country after the success of his 2006 hit song Ya Ali.
