Actor and health enthusiast R. Madhavan is the latest to sound off the alarms over a conversation that’s missing its voice: how the use of mobile phones has been taking a toll on our bodies.
Addressing a recent health awareness seminar, an actor from Rocketry, urged people to be more vigilant about how their digital habits — including their incessant use of the phone — are altering their physical well-being subtly. But Madhavan stressed that, while screen time is to say that when we talk about screen time and mental well-being, the physical impact such as on our hands and posture is equally important.
Madhavan referred to a phenomenon aptly known as “mobile phone finger” and other ways that constant scrolling, texting and holding can contribute to conditions like mobile phone finger, repetitive strain injury and postural deformities.
He urged listeners to note changes they might have noticed, such as stiffness in fingers, wrist pain or slouched backs — symptoms that have become so common but are rarely blamed on the daily use of mobile devices.

Madhavan’s words resonated with many, as he called for taking screen breaks, regular stretching and increased mindful tech habits. “This is not just about fitness,” he said, “it’s about taking control of our bodies in a digitally dominated world.”
The versatile actor, who is also recognized for his commitment to well-being, has been using his work and platform to encourage people towards healthier living habits, in an increasingly digitized environment.
