Yuzvendra and Dhanashree love story

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer-influencer Dhanashree Verma once seemed like the quintessential modern couple — a blend of sport and creativity that fans admired during the early pandemic years.

The duo tied the knot in December 2020, after a whirlwind romance that began in lockdown, and their cheerful, content-filled social media presence made them one of the most followed celebrity couples online.

However, by late 2022, cracks in the relationship became evident. They unfollowed each other on Instagram, removed shared photos, and speculation surrounding a possible separation began to intensify.

Yet, there was a time when Dhanashree spoke fondly and openly about her husband, praising his integrity and endearing simplicity. “What I love the most about him is his decency. There are no layers with Yuzi, what you see is what you get,” she had once said, reflecting the affection they once shared.

Their love story began in an unexpectedly casual way. During the lockdown, Chahal stumbled upon Dhanashree’s dance content on TikTok and Instagram and sent her a direct message, inquiring about dance classes. She agreed to teach him virtually. For the first two months, Chahal recalled, “We didn’t talk about anything else but dance. I didn’t flirt at all. We are not even friends, only had dance-related talks.”

It was only later that their conversations grew personal. “I asked her ‘how are you so happy, even during this lockdown?’ Then she started to talk about her life. That is where our conversations started,” he had shared. What drew him to her, he said, was her energy and self-made journey. “I told my mom about her, that I like this girl. Then I told her (Dhanashree) I don’t want to date you, I want to marry you. I said that straight away. I was sure.”

Dhanashree took to her Instagram and spoke for the first time after Chahal's podcast, she took to her social media handle and posted a picture from her Dubai trip.

Her photo dump featured everything from enjoying local street treats like vada pav and pani puri to sunset walks and visits to temples, capturing a sense of calm and nostalgia.

In the caption she wrote, “Back in Dubai after what feels like a lifetime…Growing up here gave me so many core memories and seeing how much the city has evolved was both surreal and heartwarming. One of the highlights was visiting this beautiful Hindu temple, peaceful, powerful, and a reminder of how far this city has come in embracing culture and community .. Grateful for the growth, the roots, and the reconnection.”

In March 2025, the couple legally parted ways at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court, with mutual consent. Reports revealed that Chahal agreed to a reported alimony sum of Rs 4.75 crore, half of which had already been paid.
