It’s not every day that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are asked to leave a café. But that’s exactly what happened once in New Zealand.
Jemimah Rodrigues revealed Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were once asked to leave a New Zealand café after a long chat with her and Smriti Mandhana.
Jemimah shared the story in a recent interview with Mashable India. According to her, the meeting took place at a hotel café where both the men’s and women’s teams were staying. What began as a casual chat quickly stretched into nearly four hours of conversation.
“He actually told Smriti and me that ‘you both have the power to change women’s cricket, and I can see that happening,’” Rodrigues recalled.

She added that the discussion moved beyond cricket, becoming more like a conversation among “It felt like a few long-lost friends meeting and talking,”
The interaction eventually ended when café staff requested them to leave, as they had overstayed. “The only reason we stopped was because the cafe staff asked us to leave,” Jemimah said with a laugh.
The story has drawn attention as it offers a rare glimpse into Kohli and Sharma’s off-field moments. The couple, who now live in London with their two children, has largely stayed away from the spotlight in recent years, choosing a quieter life.
