Rajesh Khanna, widely known as the first superstar of Hindi cinema, captivated millions with his charm and acting prowess. His marriage to Dimple Kapadia in 1973 was a major event, drawing significant public attention. However, despite their early romance, their relationship faced many challenges, leading to a separation in 1982, though they never officially divorced.

As Rajesh Khanna’s career progressed, his personal life remained tumultuous. By the late 2000s, his health began to decline. In 2011, he was diagnosed with cancer, and as his condition worsened, he prepared for the future by drafting a will. Reports suggest that just a month before his passing in 2012, he made significant changes to his will, which later became a subject of controversy.

One of the most surprising aspects of his will was that his ex-wife, Dimple Kapadia, was entirely excluded from his wealth as per the report of DNA. At the time of his death, Rajesh Khanna’s assets were estimated to be worth around Rs 600 crore. This fortune included his iconic bungalow, Aashirwad, along with other valuable properties, bank accounts, and investments. Instead of distributing his wealth to Dimple, he left everything to his two daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna.

This decision raised many questions and became a topic of widespread debate. Dimple had remained by Rajesh Khanna’s side during his final days, which led many to believe that their bond had strengthened over time. However, the exclusion from the will suggested otherwise. Some speculated that their earlier marital struggles played a role in this decision, while others believed there could have been external influences.

Adding to the controversy, Rajesh Khanna’s live-in partner, Anita Advani, claimed a share of his property. She asserted that she had taken care of him during his later years and even considered herself his “surrogate wife.” Anita argued that her emotional and physical support for him entitled her to a part of his wealth. She even mentioned observing Karwa Chauth fasts for him, further reinforcing her claim. This led to a legal battle, further complicating the matter.

Before his marriage to Dimple, Rajesh Khanna had been in a serious relationship with actress Anju Mahendru. Their relationship ended before he tied the knot with Dimple. Over time, as his stardom fluctuated, his marriage with Dimple also suffered. Despite several efforts to mend their relationship, Dimple left him in 1984. Years later, she admitted that marrying a superstar came with its own set of regrets.

Despite the complex nature of their relationship, Dimple never spoke negatively about Rajesh Khanna in public. Even though she was not included in his will, she maintained a dignified silence on the matter.

Rajesh Khanna’s legacy remains one of immense stardom, charm, and an unforgettable cinematic journey. However, the controversy surrounding his will continues to be a significant topic when discussing his personal life.
