Kangana Ranaut, last seen in Emergency, where she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is known for her bold and outspoken personality. She never hesitates to voice her opinions, whether about herself or the film industry, making her one of the most candid figures in Bollywood.

Now an actress-turned-politician, she has often shared personal experiences, including a shocking revelation about how her family had initially wished for a boy instead of her.
As reported by Times of India, in an old interview in 2016, Kangana had mentioned that that her parents had a baby boy as first child, before her sister Rangoli was born, who died and her parents couldn't handle the pain of his death.
"My parents had a child before Rangoli, who died within 10 days of his birth. He was called Hero. My parents couldn’t emerge from the loss of that baby boy. But then Rangoli happened and she was taken care of, there was a huge celebration," she said.
Kangana further said in the interview that her parents, especially her mother, struggled to accept the fact that she was a girl. She revealed that she frequently heard stories about how she was an unwanted child, as her family would often recount in gatherings and to guests how they had hoped for a boy instead.
The Padma Shree awardee debuted in Bollywood in 2006 with the film Gangster and has won several awards being one of the top actresses in teh industry for the past 18 years. She is serving as a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Mandi since June 2024.
