Vikrant Massey posts about his National Award win

Vikrant Massey wrote a heartfelt thank-you note on Instagram after receiving the National Film Award for Best Actor for his poignant performance in 12th Fail.

The actor opened up to fans and well-wishers about his feelings in a very intimate post that immediately received love and support from people all over the nation.

Sharing a candid photo of himself alongside his wife, Sheetal Thakur, Vikrant wrote in both Hindi and English:

“I’ve been thinking since yesterday की मैं क्या लिखूं? कैसे आप सबका शुक्रिया अदा करूं? (What should I write? How do I thank you all?) And I’m still unable to. So hopefully a simple thank you from the bottom heart would suffice. I’m grateful beyond words for your continued support in my journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you each one of you. This dreamlike life is only because of you.”

The emotion in his words mirrors the sincerity and humility that Vikrant is known for — both on and off screen.

The actor received the honour at the 71st National Film Awards, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Dressed in a classic white Bandhgala, Vikrant accepted the award from the Honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, with quiet pride and deep gratitude.

He shares the award with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was also recognised with the Best Actor award for his performance in Jawan. As per the official rules, the prize money of Rs 2 lakh was equally divided between the two recipients, with both actors receiving Rs 1 lakh and the prestigious Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus) trophy.

12th Fail also walked away with the award for Best Film, adding another proud moment to the film’s journey. On the red carpet, director Vidhu Vinod Chopra reflected on the emotional significance of the win:

"It's a personal win for me also... I got Rs 4,000 for Murder at Monkey Hill. 1977 — that was my first award. So, it's been… it's my life. This is it. See, from there to here, it’s my life, it’s 12th Fail!"
