Actress Moushumi Chatterjee once ruled Bollywood with her iconic performances. She then took a hiatus from acting for over a decade to focus on her personal life. However, Moushumi is finally making a comeback to the silver screen after 12 years.
According to India Today reports, veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee will star alongside contemporary Bengali actor Nusrat Jahan in the upcoming film Aari. The upcoming film promises to be a captivating intergenerational drama. The film will also feature Nusrat’s husband Yash Dasgupta in the key role.
However, a source revealed, “Having Moushumi Chatterjee back on screen is a treat for cinephiles. She is amazing in the film. Pairing her with Nusrat Jahan is a masterstroke. Also, Aari has shaped up to be a film to watch out for.”
The reports further suggested that the film has already completed shooting and has almost wrapped post-production. Aari will hit the theatres on April 25.
The highly-anticipated film is directed by Jiit Chakraborty and is expected to blend nostalgia with contemporary storytelling. The film promises to offer emotion and drama. However, further details are currently kept under wraps. Meanwhile, the reports have suggested that the film will explore themes of family, relationships, and cultural transitions.
Moushumi Chatterjee, known for her timeless performances in both Bollywood and Bengali films, was last seen in the 2015 film, Piku, alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan. However, her last Bengali language film Goynar Baksho (2013), which was a commercial hit.
