This week, reality singing show Indian Idol 16 stage saw one of its most endearing and amusing moments courtesy of contestant Manraj Veer and judge Badshah, whose impromptu gesture transformed a stirring performance into a memory Manraj will always treasure.
Manraj gave a powerful performance of "Ruk Ja O Dil Deewaane", which the judges described as a "speaker-phod moment".
Manraj Veer revealed that even his granddad was overcome with delight, giving him a tight hug following the audition and even taking him shopping because Manraj is a fashionista.
The real highlight of what transpired on stage was a blend of emotion, flair, and fun. In a light-hearted occasion, Manraj jokingly displayed his pricey wallet and mentioned that he had recently made a costly purchase.
In order to bless him and recognise his star quality, Badshah participated in the banter, opened his own wallet on stage, and gave him money as a special "shagun".
"The Rs 500 would go towards repairing the speaker Manraj just broke with his performance," Vishal said, laughing.
His hero-like voice could easily fit into movies, Shreya Ghoshal said, praising him for adding a distinct Manraj taste to the timeless song.
Manraj and fellow competitor Anshika have a star voice, not a backup singer's, according to Badshah, who also reiterated his opinion.
Urmila Matondkar brought her own warmth to the occasion, praising him for adding a new flavour to the well-known song and even mentioning that he made her think of Kishore Da. She was so amazed that she said she wanted to snap a selfie with him and share his performance on social media.
