Bollywood is mourning the loss of veteran actor and ace comedian Satish Shah over the weekend. Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 due to kidney failure.
Known for his impeccable comic timing and iconic roles across television and films, Satish Shah breathed his last on Saturday afternoon. His manager revealed that the actor collapsed while having lunch at his Mumbai residence and was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
A sea of friends, family, and colleagues gathered at the crematorium in Bandra on Sunday afternoon to bid farewell to the much-loved actor Satish Shah.
Among them were his Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-stars, who paid a heartfelt and unforgettable tribute by singing the sitcom’s theme song beside his pyre, a gesture that deeply moved everyone present.
The videos from the funeral are going viral and now actor actor-director Deven Bhojani, who played Dushyant in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, took to Instagram to share the video of this poignant moment.
Explaining the reason behind the tribute, he wrote: "May look mad, dark, weird whatever but we always sing this when together & today was not an exception. Felt as if INDU himself insisted and joined us. #RIP #SatishShah ji I am blessed to have directed you in #sarabhaivssarabhai You’ll live forever in our hearts."
Fans flooded the comments with messages of love and grief. One wrote, "The best way to give an artist a final goodbye, he would be smiling from heaven."
Another one wrote: "If you have friends like this at the end of your life, it’s worth everything in the world."
One more users: "When I saw you all singing the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai title track, I couldn’t hold back my tears. It felt like I was right there with you, singing along.
Sarabhai vs Sarabhai has never felt like just a show — it’s a family for us fans, and you all are a part of our own family now.
Watching you all together and remembering Satish Shah sir as Indu Sarabhai made me so emotional.
Maybe this is the time for all of us — the Sarabhai family and the fans — to come together in spirit and pray for him, so that he always stays alive in our memories, with the same laughter and love he gave us."
