Triptii Dimri on working in the comedy film Bad Newz, says: 'Comedy shuru se hi mujhe thoda difficult lagta tha' | Exclusive

Bollywood actress Triptii Dimri, who became a national crush after her brief appearance in the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer super hit movie Animal, is returning to the silver screen with her first commercial movie, Bad Newz.

The actress, along with her co-actors Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk, was in New Delhi for the film's promotions and spoke about doing comedy for the first time on the big screen.

Bad Newz is an out-and-out comedy, and while replying to a question posed by Moneycontrol, Triptii said she has always done drama in the past and doing comedy was a bit difficult, but she would love to try different genres.

"Maine hamesha se drama zyada kiya hai. It is important that you keep trying different things. I feel that, as actors, it is really important to keep trying different things and challenging yourself. Comedy shuru se hi mujhe thoda sa difficult lagta tha. In a way, it was very good that I was offered this film. And I want to thank Anand sir for trusting me with this film. Kisi ko usse level par comedy karte hue dekha nahi ho comedy karte huey, and then dena ye was a big thing. It was difficult for me to perform in front of these two, who are really talented in comedy (Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk). Their comic timing is really good. It was difficult, but it was a very good learning experience. I would want to do different roles—action, comedy, drama—everything that is offered," Triptii told us at the press conference.

Before becoming a hit, Triptii was seen in Bulbul, Qala, and Laila Majnu, which were heavy on drama.

After the success of Animal, Triptii's 2018 movie Laila Majnu is being watched, and she is getting lots of love for the movie now. She said her other work, like Bulbul and Qala, is also being watched by her fans and movie lovers.

"I'm very happy that now Laila Majnu is getting praised. I remember when Laila Majnu was originally going to get released, and on the eve of its release, I was buying vegetables and thought I would not be able to do it after the movie's release. (Vicky jokes: Parso se phir isne sabzi khareedee.) But jabse uss film ko OTT par logon ne dekha hai has become a hit, and it has been 6 years since its release. And every day I get messages for Laila Majnu. That's what we make films for. I am very grateful that the movie got love. Animal se bhi bahut sara pyaar mila, but now after Animal, people are watching my old films. Bulbul and Qala have been watched again now," said Triptii.

Triptii, who hails from Delhi,  was a student of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. After completing her graduation she made her Bollywood debut with Poster Boyz in 2017. Triptii was then seen in Laila Majnu in 2018. Next came Bulbul in 2020 and Qala in 2022, where she played the role of a singer.

Triptii will be next seen in Bhool Bhulaiyyaa 3, opposite Katrika Aaryan.
