Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma's The Great Indian Kapil Show recently received a legal notice for allegedly hurting the religious and cultural sentiments of the Bengali community and for disrespecting Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
The notice, issued by Dr. Mondal of the Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation through legal advisor Nripendra Krishna Roy, highlighted concerns over certain acts on the show, calling them offensive to Bengalis globally and disrespectful to the revered poet.
According to the Free Press Journal, in response to the notice, the creators of The Great Indian Kapil Show clarified that the program is a comedy show designed purely for entertainment purposes. They asserted that the show employs parodies and fictional sketches and does not intend to maliciously target any individual or community.
