Netflix has pulled the curtain back on its highly anticipated sci-fi disaster film The Great Flood. Starring Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo, the movie is set for a December 19 premiere and promises a mix of high-stakes survival and emotional drama.
The teaser trailer paints an eerie picture. At first, there’s calm — Anna, played by Kim Da Mi, wakes up to her young son Jain (Kwon Eun Sung) asking to go swimming. But the peace doesn’t last long. Within seconds, the world is shown drowning under a catastrophic flood.
Survival Amid Rising Waters
The visuals are enough to make your stomach clench. Towers of water crashing into apartments, waist-high water creeping inside living rooms, and Kim Da Mi struggling to carry her son through chaos — it’s survival cinema at its most raw.
Park Hae Soo steps in as Hee Jo, a security officer tasked with rescuing Anna and Jain. His guiding presence is pivotal, though his cryptic line in the teaser — “We need to create a new humanity. There’s no one else but you” — leaves viewers with more questions than answers. Clearly, this isn’t just a disaster flick; it’s venturing into deeper sci-fi territory.
Bigger Than a Disaster Movie
The teaser doesn’t just stop at the floods. Rockets shoot skyward, glowing fragments scatter across the sky, signals that the story will push beyond Earth-bound survival into something far larger.

Netflix has described the project as a story about humanity, choices, and resilience under impossible circumstances. “The intense performances of Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo will captivate audiences,” the platform promised in its official statement.
With the streaming giant leaning hard into Korean originals lately, The Great Flood looks like it could be the next global breakout.
