Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt are all set to return to the most-awaited sequel to the 2006 comedy-drama The Devil Wears Prada. The production of the sequel has already started, with several photos from the set leaked on the internet.
However, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna has recently reflected on the excitement of the fans over the sequel and their reactions to the The Devil Wears Prada 2 set photos.
In a recent interview with IndieWire, Aline said, “In many ways, we’re speaking to a different world than we did in 2006. What an honor that people are still interested.”
David Frankel will return to direct the sequel with Stanley Tucci also reprising his character. Meanwhile, Meryl Streep, Anne, Emily and Stanley were all spotted at the NYC set of the sequel, creating a buzz among the fans.
The upcoming sequel will feature several new cast members, including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet. Netflix hit series Bridgerton fame actress, Simone Ashley, has also joined the most-awaited sequel.
The upcoming highly anticipated sequel will revolve around Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. Miranda clashes with Blunt's character, a former assistant turned powerful executive of a luxury brand that Priestley needs for advertising.
However, it's currently unclear how Hathaway's character, Andy Sachs, will fit into the story since she left Runway at the end of the first film to work at a newspaper.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 1, 2026.
