Hyderabad police have registered a case against Telugu actor Kalpika Ganesh following an incident at Prism Pub in Gachibowli on May 29. The actor is accused of misbehaving with the pub staff after she refused to pay her bill and was denied permission to bring an outside birthday cake into the premises.
According to the complaint filed by the pub management, Kalpika created a scene by throwing plates, damaging property, and body-shaming the staff members. The complaint also states that she used abusive language during the altercation and caused a commotion even in the presence of the police.
A video of Kalpika arguing with the pub staff has circulated on social media, drawing widespread attention to the incident.
Following an investigation and court permission, the police registered a case against Kalpika under sections 324(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These sections pertain to voluntarily causing hurt, assault or criminal force, and wrongful restraint.
Kalpika Ganesh began her acting career in Telugu cinema with the 2009 film Prayanam. Over the years, she has played supporting roles in several notable films such as Orange, Julayi, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Padi Padi Leche Manasu, HIT: The First Case, and Yashoda. Her most recent film appearance was in Atharva in 2023.
In addition to her film work, Kalpika has also acted in two popular web series on Zee5, titled Ekkadiki Ee Parugu and Loser.
The case is currently under investigation, and the authorities are yet to comment further on the actor’s involvement.
