Tanmay Vekaria, best known for portraying the beloved character Bagha in the long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has entertained audiences for years with his comic timing and on-screen chemistry with Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal.
While many assume that their first collaboration began with the sitcom, an interesting lesser-known fact reveals otherwise—they have been colleagues and friends since their theatre days, long before the show came into existence.
Tanmay and Dilip were active members of the same theatre group and frequently travelled overseas for performances before joining the cast a few years after the premiere of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
Tanmay recently posted a charming collection of old photos from 2007 that were taken while on trips to the United Kingdom and the United States.
Amit Bhatt, who plays Champaklal in the series, is also featured in these photos, emphasising how a number of the cast members had previously performed together on stage before becoming well-known due to the sitcom.
Posting the pictures on social media, Tanmay wrote, "Throwback: sharing some pics from theatre days, UK AND USA tour." The images instantly struck a chord with fans, who were quick to spot another familiar face—Babu Chipke, a character who has made cameo appearances in the sitcom on several occasions.
It's interesting to note that prior to the show, Tanmay collaborated with Dayaben, whose real name is Disha Vakani. Together, the pair had appeared in many theatre productions, winning audiences over with their captivating stage presence and sense of humour.
Tanmay has gained a special place in the hearts of the audience since assuming the role of Bagheshwar Daddu Undhaiwala, also known as Bagha, as Natu Kaka's nephew. Fans immediately grew to love him for his eccentric demeanour, unique dialogue delivery, and most famously, his catchphrase "Jaisi jiski soch".

The affectionate and humorous relationship between Bagha and Ghanashyam Nayak's Nattu Kaka, which viewers still cherish even after Nayak's death, was one of the show's most treasured elements.
In addition to Tanmay, the show still stars important cast members like Dilip Joshi, Amit Bhatt, Mandar Chandwadkar, Sonalika Joshi, and others, all of whom have helped the sitcom maintain its standing as one of the most adored family programs on Indian television.
