Munmun Dutta misses Nattu Kaka

Famous for her long-running role as Babitaji in the hugely successful sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Munmun Dutta recently paid a heartfelt homage to the late Ghanshyam Nayak, who fans lovingly remember as Nattu Kaka, on Instagram. Many were moved by her sincere remembrance, which caused viewers who have watched the show for more than ten years to feel nostalgic.

On her Instagram Stories, the actress, who has been a cast member for over 17 years, shared a number of heartfelt recollections of her favourite times spent with her co-star. Three unique looks from their time on set were among the shared photos, which showed the cast's warm affection and camaraderie.

One particularly touching photo featured Ghanshyam Nayak holding Munmun’s purse as she struck a pose for the camera. She captioned it, “Wow, I can’t believe what I found in my memories today,” and added, “Dilipji making fun of adorable Ghanshyam uncle (Nattu Kaka) for holding my purse.” The post captured a light-hearted and genuine moment, highlighting the off-screen bond the actors shared.

In another slide, Munmun expressed her deep affection, writing, “He was one of my favourite people,” and followed it with, “Thanks to technology for saving all these memories.” Her nostalgic reflection resonated with fans, many of whom became emotional as they remembered the veteran actor’s iconic performance and gentle persona.

After a protracted fight with cancer, Ghanshyam Nayak died on October 3, 2021, at the age of 77. He is well-known for his vast career in Gujarati and Hindi cinema, having starred in more than 300 TV series and almost 100 films. However, he won over millions of fans with his portrayal of the devoted and witty Nattu Kaka.

In an earlier interview with ETimes, his son Vikas revealed a touching detail about his father’s final wish: “We called a professional makeup artist to do his makeup when he passed away, as he wanted to die with his makeup on. And I must tell you, there was immense peace on his face when his pulse stopped.”

Despite the cruel toll of illness, Ghanshyam Nayak’s legacy lives on through his unforgettable performances. Munmun Dutta’s tribute not only honoured his memory but reminded fans of the timeless charm of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and its cherished characters.
