After spending years lighting up screens with her powerful performances in iconic television dramas like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii, and Jamai Raja, actor Achint Kaur found herself in the shadows.
But recently, she made headlines for a different reason: a heartfelt video shared online in which she openly asked for work. The video quickly went viral, prompting an outpouring of support and admiration.
Talking about the response on the video, the Jamai Raja actress told Hindustan Times, “The response has been so positive. I’ve received so many calls. That’s the kind of reaction I was hoping for when I decided to post a video asking for work,” she explains.
Her absence from the industry wasn’t due to a lack of interest or passion but stemmed from deeply personal and unavoidable circumstances. “It’s not like I didn’t want to work, I couldn’t,” she says. Achint became a full-time caregiver when her mother was diagnosed with cancer, a role she dedicated herself to for nearly five years. “I even tried giving auditions from my mother’s hospital room, but nothing came of it,” she adds.
Although opportunities occasionally came her way, Achint often had to decline. “There were times I said yes to projects, but things didn’t materialise. And other times, because of my mother’s health, I just couldn’t say yes,” she reveals.
Adding to the challenge was the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry. While she remains well-connected within the television space, the digital world felt unfamiliar. “In TV, I know the people. On the web, it was like starting from scratch,” she admits.
The loss of her mother in October was a deeply emotional blow, but Achint says the unwavering support of her friends kept her going. “The worst phase of my life taught me I’m the most blessed,” she shares.
Now, with doors beginning to reopen, Achint remains hopeful and grounded. “I’m not ashamed to ask. Sometimes, you just have to let people know you’re ready.”
