Ranveer Allahbadia seeks the merging of multiple FIRs filed against him for alleged inappropriate comments made on comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show, India's Got Latent.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh is hearing the case.
Justice Kant told Allahbadia's counsel, "He is insulting parents also! There is something dirty in this person's mind that has been spread through this program. Why the Courts should favor him?"
"Somebody thinks that because I have become so and so popular, I can speak any kind of words and take entire society for granted...you tell us anyone in the world who would like such words," Justice Surya Kant further asked the counsel.
Justice Kant asked the counsel: Are you defending the kind of statements made?
Chandrachud: Not at all. I personally am disgusted. But whether it rises to the level of criminal offense is another question
Justice Kant: What are the parameters of obscenity/vulgarity?
Justice Kant questioned Allahbadia's counsel: "There are only two FIRs as far we know, not that many FIRs are filed. Just because you are popular you cannot take the society for granted. The SC has granted Allahbadia protection from arrest but asked him not to accompany the police station with his counsel.
