Released in 1983, Betaab marked Sunny Deol's entry into Bollywood at the age of 26. Directed by Rahul Rawail and produced by Bikram Singh Dehal and J. P. Dutta, the film became an instant hit, establishing Deol as a promising new star.

The plot revolves around the passionate and tumultuous love story between Sunny (Sunny Deol) and Roma (Amrita Singh), set against the backdrop of picturesque landscapes.

The story begins with Sunny Kapoor, a spirited young man from a wealthy family, who falls in love with Roma Singh, the daughter of his father's old friend turned adversary. As they navigate through familial conflicts and societal pressures, their love is tested in numerous ways. The film's romantic charm, coupled with its melodious soundtrack composed by R. D. Deol is also famously known for his iconic dialogue “dhai kilo ka haath” from the film Damini, a line that has become synonymous with his larger-than-life screen persona and powerful performances.

More recently, Sunny Deol reprised his iconic role as Tara Singh in Gadar 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Released in 2023, Gadar 2 was a resounding success, reaffirming Deol's enduring appeal and his ability to connect with contemporary audiences.
