Mandhira Kapur has issued a robust rebuttal to the defamation case recently filed against her by socialite Priya Kapur, insisting that she did not lie and that Priya “can’t walk away with everything” in their ongoing dispute. In an exclusive interview, Mandhira maintained that her statements were truthful and justified, signalling her intent to fight back against the legal action rather than retreat.
In a conversation with HT City, Mandhira Kapur Smith stated that she has never made any untrue statements. She remarked, “Everything I have said is documented in court; how can I be defaming anyone? If I have said anything untrue, please inform me, as I assure you I have not lied at all. Interestingly, the media got wind of this before I did! These are merely strategies to divert my attention from the ongoing situation.”
The late businessman’s sister further remarked, “The reality is, all of this belongs to my mother, my sister, myself, our children, and my brother’s children. No one intended to exclude Priya; she is the one who has instigated all of this. No one was planning to deny her share of the family inheritance, but you cannot take everything and simply walk away. My parents never intended to give it all to one child. We will fight for what is rightfully my mother’s while she is still alive. Everything was supposed to be in her name, as per my father’s wishes.”
She concluded her remarks by stating, “Everyone is focused on the money, but this is also about my father’s legacy. The narrative that she (Priya) is spreading about my father, claiming he ruined the company, and my brother revived it... that’s not true; the company was thriving. Should I file a defamation suit against her now? If she wants to engage in this game, we can continue. I have nothing to lose.”

The case stems from public comments made by Mandhira about Priya, which Priya alleges harmed her reputation. Priya filed the defamation complaint under relevant provisions of Indian law, claiming that Mandhira’s remarks were false and damaging.
