Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, died of a heart attack on Thursday night. He was 53. His business consultant, Suhel Seth, told ANI that the industrialist died just a few hours after he swallowed a bee during a polo match. Sunjay’s death has sparked curiosity among social media users about his personal and professional life.
Sanjay was a prominent Indian Industrialist and had an estimated net worth of $1.18 billion. According to the Forbes Billionaire Index, he ranked 2,623rd among the world's billionaires. He was the Chairman of the CII Northern Region and the Chairman of Sona Comstar.
He had a strong academic foundation and went to prestigious institutions. He went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to study the Birthing of Giants Program, Executive Education. He pursued the Owner President Management Program, Executive Education from Harvard Business School. He was also the board member of The Doon School.
On the personal front, Sunjay Kapur landed in controversy over his divorce from Karisma Kapoor. The actress allegedly made shocking revelations during her divorce filing. She accused Sunjay of assault and domestic violence.
Meanwhile, Sunjay was married to Priya Sachdev at the time of his demise. He married Priya in 2017, a year after he finalised his divorce with Karisma. The couple shared a son, Azarias. For the unversed, Priya is a former model and a socialite from Delhi. She is the daughter of car dealer Ashok Sachdev. She has pursued business management from the London School of Economics.
She was previously married to American hotelier and actor Vikram Chatwal and shares a daughter, Safira Chatwal. Priya and Vikram divorced in 2011. Priya has also starred in the 2005 Yash Raj film Neal 'n' Nikki.
Before Karisma and Priya, Sunjay Kapur was married to Nandita Mahtani, a fashion designer and socialite Nandita Mahtani in the 90s.
