The much-anticipated horror-comedy sequel, Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is making waves even before its release, setting new records in advance bookings. The film has already become one of the biggest pre-sale hits of all time, surpassing expectations and setting the stage for a massive box office opening.
According to recent reports, Stree 2 is trending significantly higher than some of the major releases of recent years. It has outpaced Tiger 3 by 20 percent and is performing 25 percent better than Brahmastra both of which were major blockbusters.
This early lead suggests that the film is on track to achieve an advance booking figure in the range of 3.50 lakh to 3.85 lakh by Wednesday night, marking it as a potential top contender at the box office.

In just 38 hours of tickets going on sale, Stree 2 has managed to sell an impressive 85,000 tickets in the top three national cinema chains—PVR Inox and Cinepolis—for the opening day alone. This rapid pace indicates a flying start for the movie, which could culminate in the sale of over Rs 3.50 lakh tickets in these chains by mid-week. Such numbers would secure Stree 2 a spot among the top 10 biggest pre-sale films of all time.
Taking paid previews into account, the film has already crossed the 1 lakh mark in national chains, with ticket sales reaching approximately 1.03 lakh. The full-fledged bookings are yet to open due to a competitive box office landscape, with Stree 2 going head-to-head with other major releases on Independence Day. Despite this, the film is expected to dominate the competition and secure the best showcasing by a significant margin.
For context, Tiger 3 sold approximately 72,000 tickets in the first 38 hours of advance booking, while Brahmastra sold around 65,000 tickets in the same time frame. Both films went on to sell over 3 lakh tickets by midnight before their respective releases.
On the other hand, Animal sold approximately 90,000 tickets in the top three national chains within the same period, eventually selling 4.56 lakh tickets by midnight before its release. For Stree 2 to be in the vicinity of these massive films is a historic achievement, especially for a mid-sized, non-superstar film.
The demand for Stree 2 tickets has been relentless, with sales soaring across both metropolitan areas and smaller towns. The film’s appeal is broad, capturing audiences across the board, and the sky seems to be the limit for its opening day performance. Given the current trend, the film’s pre-sale numbers are expected to close between 3.50 lakh and 3.85 lakh tickets, further solidifying its position as a box office juggernaut.
The bookings for paid previews have also been impressive, with 18,000 tickets already sold for post-9:30 PM shows. The momentum suggests that sales for limited paid previews alone could hit the 75,000 ticket mark, which is unprecedented for a mid-sized film. If this trend continues, and if additional shows are added for paid previews, Stree 2 might even break the long-standing paid preview record set by Chennai Express (Rs 6.75 crore).
These record-breaking numbers are indicative of Stree 2’s potential to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Hindi cinema. The film’s success will ultimately depend on its content delivering on the audience's expectations, but if the current trend is anything to go by, Stree 2 is poised to emerge as a significant milestone in Indian film history.
