Singer Zubeen Garg to make Bollywood debut in posthumous film Chakra

Veteran actor Victor Bannerjee revealed that the late singer Zubeen Garg directed and starred in the upcoming Hindi film Chakra, set to release next month.

Veteran Bengali actor Victor Bannerjee, who has starred in films directed by Satyajit Ray and David Lean, has recently announced a Hindi movie with the late singer Zubeen Garg. Victor Bannerjee shared that Zubeen Garg will direct the upcoming film, Chakra.

In addition to directing, ZubeenGarg, who unexpectedly died last week, leaving his fans in shock, also plays a lead role in the political thriller.

According to News24, Victor Bannerjee has reflected on the film and said, “I just completed his film with Zubeen, where he is also my co-star. It will be released next month. I enjoyed watching him act as much as the world enjoys him singing. Zubeen was a great son of our soil.”

The veteran actor added, “I shall miss him. What a waste of greatness! The heavens are intoxicated with his charm now. May he stay singing in peace.”

Victor Bannerjee revealed that Zubeen Garg and he were close friends. The film will be released as a tribute to the late singer.

Zubeen Garg gained pan-Indian fame with Ya Ali from Gangster (2006), one of Bollywood's most well-known songs at the time, and was praised for bringing Assamese music to a national level.

Assamese singer Zubeen Garg tragically died on Friday during a scuba diving accident. His mortal remains have been brought back from Singapore to India.

People from all over the state have travelled to Guwahati to pay their final respects to their favourite singer, who has captivated them with over 38,000 songs performed in 40 languages and dialects for more than thirty years.

Since Saturday evening, people have gathered outside the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, where his remains will be interred, to offer final condolences.

Garg's family, including his ailing 85-year-old father, will be able to pay their final respects to his mortal remains for approximately one and a half hours at his Kahilipara home.
