Shreyas Talpade denies involvement in multi-crore chit fund scam, team issues official statement

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade has found himself in the middle of a controversy after being named in a financial fraud case related to a multi-crore chit fund scam. A case was recently registered against him and 14 others in Uttar Pradesh, prompting his team to swiftly respond with an official statement strongly denying all allegations.

The case, which allegedly involves a chit fund scam that operated for over a decade in the Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly targeted villagers with promises of high returns on investments. According to reports, the scam was run by a company called The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited. The company is accused of collecting large sums of money from locals by luring them with false claims of doubling their investments within a short period—a tactic reminiscent of the plot in Phir Hera Pheri, a film that ironically featured Akshay Kumar, who will now be seen sharing the screen with Shreyas in the upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle.

Amid the growing media coverage, Shreyas Talpade’s team issued a detailed official statement dismissing the claims as “completely false and baseless.” The statement read:

“It is deeply unfortunate that in today’s world, a person’s hard-earned reputation appears to be vulnerable to undue tarnishment by unfounded rumours. Recent reports alleging Mr. Shreyas Talpade’s involvement in fraud or misconduct are completely false, baseless and devoid of any merit whatsoever.”

The statement further clarified that Talpade, like many public figures, is frequently invited to attend corporate and public events and that this might have been misconstrued as an association.

“As a public figure, Mr. Talpade, like many other celebrities, is frequently invited to various corporate and annual events, which he attends as and when possible,” the team explained.

They also firmly denied any business or financial association with the organization in question:

“Beyond such appearances, the actor has no association whatsoever with the company in question.”

Reiterating the actor’s clean record, the statement concluded:

“Needless to say, Mr. Talpade has no nexus whatsoever with any fraudulent or unlawful acts as are being alleged and/or circulated. We urge everyone to verify facts before spreading misinformation and request that Mr. Talpade’s name be kept away from these baseless rumors. Mr. Talpade is a law-abiding citizen who remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, honesty and professionalism in all of his endeavours.”

The case has drawn public and media scrutiny, but Talpade’s team remains confident that the truth will prevail. As the investigation unfolds, the actor continues to focus on his upcoming projects, including Welcome to the Jungle, where he stars alongside Akshay Kumar.
