Anjini Dhawan, a rising star in the film industry, shared her thoughts on her journey in acting, her approach to preparation, and her experiences working with renowned figures in the film industry. Anjini is going to feature in Salman Khan's Sikandar. In an exclusive interview with MoneyControl, she gave insights into her learning process and future aspirations.
When asked about how she prepared for her role, Anjini clarified, “I didn’t know it a day before. I had seen the script a few days ago, but I knew it a day before the shoot that I was shooting tomorrow.”
Despite the last-minute nature of the project, she didn’t seem phased, as her ongoing acting classes and workshops had kept her sharp.
“The workshops were still going on, my acting classes and workshops were still going on throughout,” she mentioned. Furthermore, she credited the clarity and guidance provided by director Murugadoss Sir for making the preparation easier.
“He is so clear about what he wants from you. He explains the scene to you so well. In motion, he wants you to approach the scene. That makes everything very easy,” Anjini added.
Being the niece of Varun Dhawan, whom she admires greatly also provided her with valuable advice on set. She recalled, “Just to be confident always. I think that's the only advice he always gives me.”
Anjini’s learning experience also included working with Salman Khan, a legend in the industry. When asked about what she had learned from him, she highlighted his dedication to the craft. “When he is on set, he is only on set. He is always on set, wo apne vanity van mein bhi jaana pasand nahi karte." she said, emphasizing how it was inspiring to see someone so immersed in their work.
As a newcomer with just two films under her belt, Anjini is still exploring her range as an actor. She expressed her desire to take on a variety of roles in the future. “I want to do all types of roles. I am very new. I have only done two films. So, I want to do everything,” she shared. Anjini also revealed that she is open to working in the OTT space, as she believes that “some great work on OTT” is happening, and she would love to be a part of it.
When reflecting on her goals for entering the industry, Anjini noted that working with Salman Khan was a significant milestone for her. “I have ticked a very, very, very big box,” she said, adding that being a fan of his work made it especially meaningful to share screen space with him.
Looking ahead, she expressed her eagerness to continue working with talented actors and directors in the industry. She said, “I want to work with everyone,” and named Ranbir Kapoor as one of her favorite actors, praising his ability to add “magic on screen.” In terms of actresses, she admires Alia Bhatt.
