Veteran Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar has shown immense resilience in his battle with cancer. The 62-year-old actor, known for his stellar performances, recently opened about his journey of undergoing chemotherapy while continuing to shoot for films. Now fully recovered, he is gearing up to join the sets of Ram Charan’s much-anticipated sports drama, RC16.
Shiva Rajkumar revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer last year, which required him to undergo a surgical procedure in the United States. Recalling his experience, he shared with 123Telugu,, “When I first heard about my diagnosis, I was shaken. But my family and doctors gave me the strength to fight.”
Despite the overwhelming challenge, the actor remained committed to his craft. He continued working on films while undergoing chemotherapy.
“It was quite difficult. You’d be shocked to see how I acted in the climax of 45,” he stated, referring to his recent film.
Shiva Rajkumar continued working while battling the disease and he reveals the reason for it. He said: “I shot for movies while simultaneously undergoing chemotherapy. It was tough, but I wanted to keep going. Acting has always been my passion, and I didn’t want cancer to take that away from me,” he added.
With his recovery complete, Shiva Rajkumar is ready to return to the sets. He will soon be joining the cast of RC16, a sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The actor revealed, “I will resume shooting for my upcoming movies from March 3. I will join Ram Charan’s RC16 team in Hyderabad on March 5. I’m playing a very special role in the movie, and I will shoot for three days.”
Expressing gratitude towards his fans and industry friends, he said, “I thank my fans and well-wishers for their love and support during my difficult times. Their prayers and encouragement kept me going.”
Shiva Rajkumar credited his family for being his pillar of strength throughout his battle with cancer. His wife, Geetha, and daughter, Nivedita, played a crucial role in his recovery. “They accompanied me to the Miami Cancer Institute, where I underwent surgery to remove my cancerous bladder. An artificial bladder was created using part of my intestine,” he revealed.
