Shah Rukh Khan and Viveck Vaswani are longtime friends

Shah Rukh Khan recently won the Best Actor award at the 71st National Film Awards for his role in Atlee’s Jawan. After the announcement, congratulatory messages flooded in for the superstar, including one from his longtime friend and filmmaker Viveck Vaswani.

Viveck took to his official  X (formerly Twitter) account and shared an old photo of Shah Rukh smiling at him. Alongside the photo, he wrote, “Congratulations @iamsrk on the National Award! Very late but very, very deserving!”

For the unversed, Shah Rukh and Viveck have worked together in the 1992 film Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, where Shah Rukh played the lead role of Raju and Viveck played Lovechand Kukreja. The film was directed by Aziz Mirza and produced by G.P. Sippy, with Viveck as co-producer. It also featured Juhi Chawla, Nana Patekar, and Amrita Singh.

Viveck Vaswani played an important role in Shah Rukh’s early days in Mumbai. The actor even stayed at Viveck’s house when he first arrived in the city. They also collaborated on films like English Babu Desi Mem, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, and King Uncle.

Juhi Chawla has also congratulated her longtime friend and co-star for the honour. SRK shared the honour with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail, while Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next project, King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film reportedly stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone, but an official announcement is still pending.
