A recent social media exchange between Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and politician Shashi Tharoor showcased his razor-sharp wit, which continues to delight fans in addition to his performances.
Following SRK's widely reported victory as Best Actor at the 71st National Film Awards for his performance in Jawan, the exchange took place.
As congratulations poured in from all corners of the industry and beyond, it was Shashi Tharoor’s post on X that caught particular attention.
Known for his extensive vocabulary and eloquent phrasing, Shashi Tharoor wrote, “A National Treasure wins a National Award! Congratulations @iamsrk!” In his trademark humorous style, Shah Rukh replied, “Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor. Would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian ha ha,” drawing laughter and applause from netizens.

For those curious, “magniloquent” refers to lofty speech, while “sesquipedalian” describes long, polysyllabic words.
Shah Rukh Khan, who has always been known for his warm rapport with peers and fans alike, didn’t stop there.
He made sure to respond to nearly everyone who wished him well. He thanked Jawan director Atlee with a playful response: “MAAASSS MAAASSS MAASSS. Thank you for your vision. Only you could do this... In the next song, we will do more steps. Love u.”
He also replied cheekily to his wife, Gauri Khan, who had shared a celebratory post with Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar. Khan quipped, “Please brag about me to me when we sit for dinner tonight... thanks for producing the film.”
Shah Rukh also released a heartfelt video message, expressing gratitude for the love and support he’s received. Meanwhile, the actor is recovering from a hand injury sustained on the set of his upcoming film King, co-starring Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone.
