Bollywood’s iconic romantic drama Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is all set to create history once again, as a bronze statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will be unveiled at Leicester Square in London on October 20, 2025, marking the film’s 30th anniversary.
This marks the first time an Indian film has been honoured with a statue at this prestigious location.
The statue will feature the legendary duo Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in their iconic pose from the 1995 blockbuster, which became a defining film in Indian cinema.
Directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, DDLJ introduced audiences to the unforgettable love story of Raj and Simran — two young non-resident Indians who fall in love during a vacation in Europe.
A pivotal scene in the film, where the characters first cross paths, takes place at Leicester Square, making the statue’s placement even more meaningful.

The bronze sculpture will join the “Scenes in the Square” movie trail, which celebrates international cinema with tributes to some of the most beloved film characters in history. Positioned along the eastern terrace outside the Odeon Cinema, the DDLJ statue will share space with global cinema legends like Harry Potter and Laurel & Hardy, solidifying Bollywood’s presence on the global entertainment stage.
Mark Williams, Deputy Chief Executive at the Heart of London Business Alliance, said the statue is a “fitting tribute to the global popularity of Bollywood and a celebration of London’s rich diversity.” He added that it’s an honour to add “titans of international cinema” like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol to the trail.
Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, expressed pride in being the first Indian production featured in the trail. He highlighted the statue’s importance in showcasing Indian cinema’s cultural influence globally and building cinematic bridges across communities.
DDLJ continues to be one of Bollywood’s most successful and cherished films. Over the decades, it has transcended generations and cultures, becoming a pop culture phenomenon. In addition to the statue, a new musical adaptation of the film titled Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical is set to premiere at the Manchester Opera House on May 29, 2025.
