One of the most respected actors in Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan, reportedly suffered a back injury while filming his eagerly awaited movie King. India Today reported that the incident happened while the actor was filming a high-intensity action scene.
While the news sparked concern among his global fanbase, sources close to the production confirmed that the injury is “not serious” and that SRK is “recovering well”.
The accident has unavoidably affected the film's schedule, even with the comforting update. In order to give the 58-year-old superstar enough time to rest and recover, the team has now chosen to move the shoot to September.
Shah Rukh first travelled to the United States for a medical consultation after the incident, and he has since moved to the United Kingdom, where he is currently recovering with his family. The producers have decided to put his health and general well-being above all else, so they have temporarily postponed a planned location scout and shoot in Sri Lanka.
King, directed by Siddharth Anand—who previously helmed blockbusters like Pathaan and War—marks the theatrical debut of Suhana Khan, who made her screen debut with Netflix’s The Archies in 2023.
The film also boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, and Abhay Verma. Designed as a high-octane drama filled with slick action and emotional gravitas, King has been generating significant buzz even ahead of its official teaser launch.
Despite the delay, the momentum around King shows no signs of slowing down. Shah Rukh’s fans have flooded social media with heartfelt wishes and unwavering support, hopeful that he’ll bounce back stronger. The production team is also reportedly using this downtime to fine-tune pre-visualisation and VFX work to ensure the final product exceeds expectations.
As the crew prepares to resume work in the autumn, the film remains on track to be one of the most talked-about cinematic events of 2026. For now, all eyes remain on SRK’s recovery and the film’s eventual return to set.
