Shabana Azmi’s 74th birthday was celebrated in grand style on Wednesday evening, with a host of Bollywood stars including Farah Khan, Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza, Urmila Matondkar, Richa Chadha, Shibani Dandekar, Ali Fazal, and Tanvi Azmi in attendance. Several of them shared glimpses of the celebrations on Instagram, expressing their admiration and love for the iconic actress.

Farah Khan posted a playful video that began by focusing on a floral decoration which read ‘50’ as the veteran actor completed 50 years in cinema this month. Panning towards Shabana Azmi, Farah humorously remarked, "We are at the 50th birthday of living legend, none other than Shabana Azmi. 50th birthday, really?" Urmila Matondkar quickly chimed in, “50th? This is your 50th?” Vidya Balan, joining the fun, added, “No, no. 40th, right?” The trio then warmly embraced Shabana, laughing and wishing her on her special day. Sharing the lighthearted moment, Farah captioned the video: “Here with 2 of the best dancers in Bollywood!! @azmishabana18 and @balanvidya … oh, and there’s also @urmilamatondkarofficial (winking emoji). Happy birthday, Shabana! (red heart emoji).”
Urmila Matondkar also dedicated a heartfelt post to Shabana Azmi, sharing a series of nostalgic photos featuring the two of them together. In a deeply emotional note, Urmila wrote, “The 'Maa' that cinema gave me… and as cheesy as it may sound, I can always say to anyone, 'Mere paas Maa hai (I have a mother)'. Happy Birthday dearest Shabanaji. It has been an absolute pleasure and an incredible privilege to see you, work with you, and learn from you. The learning continues.” She added, “Words fall short to describe the bond we’ve shared, one that we’ve carefully nurtured for almost four decades. May you continue to illuminate our paths and guide us toward love, life, and greater heights.”
Dia Mirza, too, took to Instagram to share a collection of photos and videos from the party. In one video, as the group posed for a picture, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha’s husband, could be heard from behind the camera, joking, “Nothing, just taking a video.” Dia also shared a glimpse of Shabana’s birthday cake, along with a serene photo of the moon. In her heartfelt message, she wrote, "Happy Birthday Shabana Amma. You are our inspiration, our cheerleader, and the glue that binds us all together. We are incredibly fortunate to call you our own. As you mark 50 years in cinema this month, know that you are deeply cherished. Thank you for being the absolute best. We love you, @azmishabana18."

Dia’s post also included a shout-out to Manta Goyal for organizing the wonderful evening and mentioned many of the guests in attendance, including Vidya Balan, Urmila Matondkar, Richa Chadha, Shibani Dandekar, Tanvi Azmi, and others. She wrapped up her note with gratitude, saying, “Thank you, @alifazal9, for the photos and the hilarious video! May we always laugh together. We missed you in this photo @sandymridul, @konkona, @shahanagoswami, @divyadutta25, @tannishtha_c."
